On november 2002, Nicolas Sarkozy french Minister for the Interior, anouced he was going to close the ICRC center of Sangatte in the north of France.

For nearly ten years Sangatte was a step for migrants on their way for freedom, work and peace. A better life for them and their families. An impression of hope called not England but work in a country living in peace.

Sangatte was the last step to England on a long, and sometimes endless, road.

Immigration seems to be the main security problem for rich countries. Politicians spend so much time and energy finding solutions to protect their own electors against that foreign danger.

Like every rich country France has it’s own flow. Actualy there are two flows. People originaly from the old french colonies try to reach France to work and stay there. Migrants coming from the old english colonies try to reach England. Calais is a stop for the second ones.

How could it be different with such a gap between western and third-world countries.

Since november 2002, I used to go every winter to Calais more or less at the same period. There is no subjet, I just try to make a statement of the world evolution.

Every year things change according to war and peace in the world.

Things are getting worst every year
