Before Nicolas Sarkozy announced that his government was planning to reform the French state pension system in January 2010, he was generally considered as being a popular President. A few months later he is seen as the worst President of the ‘Fifth Republic.’ The long movement against the pension reform has gradually increased in popularity amongst the population, creating a real gap in France between politics, finance and the French people. France has suddenly discovered what financial crisis means, what capitalism is, while policitians and other countries have discovered via the mass-media what an authentic pacific ‘social movement’ means.
